Pots by Matthew Kennedy
I got an email today from clay artist Matthew Kennedy asking me to check out his work.
Wow! Impressed with his pots, his process, his output, his marketing. This guy has got it going on!
He's got two sites. One is urnnews.com, where he and other artists market their keepsake urns. He uses another site - TooTallsPottery (named after his beloved Saint Bernard) - to market bonsai pots, and you can also read more about his studio there.
Matthew looks like he's having success as a full-time potter. Bravo!

Yea, seems like Mathew sent the email to a bunch of us bloggers looking for free advertising.
That's just fine, I say. There's enough room in the pottery universe for all of us.
I got an email as well -- but hey - a person needs to make a living . . .
hey patricia, you busy in your other job? haven't 'seen' you for a while..
I like his approach about teaming up with other artists on his site. He is markeitng himself and his work even if it's in an unconventional yet creative way.
Thanks for the comments guys... I was chagrined to see that another Internet marketer had left a comment, which I've since deleted, in an attempt to drive traffic to their site. The lines between between social networking, blogging and marketing can get a little blurry, but the last comment (since deleted) was very clearly over the line. Oh well... Live and learn.
Hi Ang - Yep, you guessed it!
I'm working with a 12-day event and we're on our third day. I'm responsible for the sponsorship, publicity and marketing program so much of my work takes place in the weeks leading up to this time. We get more than 400,000 visitors so its a pretty large undertaking. It's exhausting but challenging and fun too. Also helps me pay the rent on my studio.
ahhh excellent keep up the good work then :P
