These little fellows are sponge-holders. Yep, before you get all snarky, you should give it a try! You all need a sponge-holder (or two) in your kitchen!
I saw my first sponge-holder at a craft show in Hawaii and thought it was pretty stupid. But, I've been converted! I received one as a gift while back, and we love it.
These are fun to make and a great way to warm up (and also try out glaze combos). I like having affordable, small items for shoppers desiring hand-made functional pieces. I try out different deco, sprigs and glaze combos.
Now, instead of putting your clean, wet sponge back down on your kitchen counter, you can plunk it onto the sponge-holder where it dries and is ready for your next clean-up.

wow, second time this week I have heard about these, and I had never heard of them before!
it is nice to have those bread and butter items!
I love the design! I think it would be fun to add inexpensive, bright color sponges when you display/sell them too. You're on to something, my sponge holder now is the old fashioned clay hand, curved upward slightly, that our youngest son made in 1st grade and it works good, but doesn't drain like your holders. great idea.
Patricia, I think these are a great idea. Much nicer to have a sponge holder on the counter than a damp sponge. I saw a sponge holder at an art fairs and they displayed them as Cindy mentioned. I might not have noticed them if I hadn't seen the sponge. The person was selling them with with the sponge included. I know they were different than yours, but I can't recall what they looked like.
Great idea! Thanks for posting them. They could probably also double as business card holders.
never heard of this before, it makes sense
Cool Patricia - I've seen some of these before and they look very practical! Nothing worse than smelly, bacteria carrying sponges... I like these!
