Mugs, marks, mice and making platters!

More mugs for the "100-Mug Challenge" went into the bisque kiln last night.

I've also been busy with mouse-making and mark-making. Here is a photo showing recent scraffito work on a trio of vases.

The platters will come out of the bisque today, along with the first round of mugs in the "100-Mug Challenge." I'm excited about glazing these.

Never a dull moment in the studio these days! (Put on some NPR or great toonage and the time flies by!)

In a couple of days, we go back to Bakersfield and I'll pull more goodies out of the old studio - including my slab-roller. More fun ahead!

Love the mouse! I would love to do some scrafito but would want it to look like Jeff Martin's and then it wouldn't be mine would it!?

Hi Judy - I started glazing the mugs today... We'll see.... I don't have nearly the patience you do with testing and trying new glazes. I tend to just cross my fingers and hope for the best!

Hi Ang - One of the scraffito pieces cracked at the rim in the bisque. AWWWWW! The others came out fine. Glazing next week. Thanks for checking in!

Hi Tracey - The little creatures are a great warm up and efficient way to use up that last bit of glaze at the bottom of a bucket. On the scraffito, Jeff's work is amazing and comes right from his heart and head. I love the messages - and the way his images encompass the whole form and move your eye through the piece. It's definitely an influence for me. If you want to try scraffito, go for it. It's really fun. I think we can have others' work influence us, inspire us and go from there to do our own thing.

Your mouse has such a personality. Those scraffito vases are great, sorry about the cracked rim. You're really inspiring me to try some scraffito real soon. Thanks.

...and you've inspired me to give scriffito another chance. :o)

Nice Work!! I love the black mugs/tumblers...

And, I also listen to a little NPR in the studio - there's a little bit of everything that appeals to my restless side.
