Mugs

I've only had a couple of hours in the studio the last couple of days and been trying to replenish my mug inventory.  Here is the latest batch that will be etched and decorated tomorrow.

Thanks everyone who weighed in on the crazing problem. Your input was really helpful. I'm going to re-fire soon and then take the next indicated step.

I love the mugs -- is that a snail I see? Cool.

People sure have mixed ideas about crazing. I unload my kiln with gloves almost every time & don't experience crazing.

I think it must be an expansion issue. But there are many wares being sold that are crazed. Some people think if dishes are washed well the crazing doesn't pose a health risk.

I guess you'd have to have the piece tested after lots of use to really know.

Hi Judy - Thanks for your thoughts on the crazing issue. I'm going to re-fire, with the expectation that it will certainly happen again. Then I'll have to go to Plan B -- but I'm still hopeful!

Hi Gary and Cheryl - I'm glad you liked the snails. Those cups are for a friend who uses "slowly, slowly" as her motto for living... Maybe I'll make a bunch more of them!
