Here's the start on a series of decorated mugs. I did some bowls like this inspired by wildflowers that grow on the hills and bluffs near my studio in Cambria. A few bowl-buyers asked for mugs with the same theme... So mugs it is!

dang, these are gorgeous, and you're so obusy it makes me think I have been ::gasp:: blogging too much and not enough potting!
I agree with Gary-nice mugs! It's also reminded me that I, too, need to get to making-hoidays are just around the corner.
Oh, I can't wait to see the mugs fresh out of the glaze load; they look wonderful. The etchings and underglazes have me curious to learn more. Went to the classroom today and found I had half of my supplies at home; it's hard getting organized when I have two places to work.
Hey Patricia, I finally got around to posting from the 'tag' you got me on last week.
Everything is looking great. I didn't chime in on your crazing post as I'm going through that whole issue too. I do usually wait until about 300 to unload, still things seem to have a delayed crazing no matter what I do. It's a pain. I'm getting some help from a potter who has some Matrix glaze software, we are working on getting things to fit better. For now though I'm just gonna have to live with it.
I have heard also that adding talc or silica to the glaze or the clay can help reduce crazing....(kinda forgotten which) and
yes, your mugs kick A$$, they really do!
Tag you're it:

Love the mugs. Can't wait to see how the underglazes look after they are fired!
Fantastic!
I also use a glaze software program to look at fit.
Wow, thanks everybody! I'm going to bisque these and delay glazing and firing until I know (or think I know) that I've got the crazing thing handled.
Ron - Sorry about tagging you!
Judi - I was just tagged, so in the words of Cynthia "I'm going to be a party pooper." Thank you for thinking of me but I'm pretty sure we're all in a tagging loop.
Cynthia - You're really not a "party pooper," you're a sensible girl and I'm going to follow your words of wisdom.
These look great! Are the designs etched into the top glaze layer or have you applied pigment or black glaze for the designs? So many questions...
Hi Cheryl- Thanks for the nice comment on the mugs. The lines are etched either into leather-hard clay or into a layer of underglaze. Then, I fill with black underglaze and scrape clean. Difficult to do if there is an underglaze layer and way too time consuming, so now I've been putting the spot color around the etched areas.
