Soft clay is my friend

Sometimes, I just don't think of the obvious... My back has been giving me fits and I just figured  out that working with softer clay could be part of the solution.

Well, I didn't actually "figure" it out. It was revealed to me as I was reading an article in Ceramics Monthly about Mark Shapiro called "Soft Clay, Hard Work" and decided that working with softer clay could be a good idea. Duh.

I'm sure I used to know this but had become accustomed to stiffer clay in more recent years. Funny, what we get used to. Now I'm looking around and re-examining the way I do other things in life. Old dog. New tricks.

ON ANOTHER TOPIC - MY BLOG LIST... It's missing... I changed to a custom domain "claymousestudio.com" and my blog list seems to have gone missing... I hope to have it resolved soon.

I know what you mean about soft/hard clay. I learned recently, ahem, from another potter that you shouldn't slop on the water too heavily as you throw. WOW! 25 years and somebody tells me to hold back on the water, and it does keep the pot more firm as you work it!!!
Get better...

I haven't changed my blog url (but it does originate from a custom domain) but I am always having trouble with my blogroll. 9.9 times out of 10 the info like recently updated time and the post title are not there. It just looks like a list. No one else seems to be having this problem. I can't imagine it's because our blogs are hooked to a domain. That doesn't make sense.

Hi Deborah - thanks for chiming in on that. I keep trying to re-add my blogroll, but it says there are "errors on the form" that I need to correct. I delete the entire thing and then re-try, but to no avail. Jeez. I've decided to just give it a rest and see if I can get it to work next week... Sorry you're having problems with it, too. If I get mine solved (No, WHEN I get mine solved), I'll let you know.

Hi Patricia,I've been working with firmer clay recently in an effort to make thinner pots, but this week my clay has been much softer and it makes a big difference, I'm going to stick with the softer clay.
